Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of surgery are the two first professional degrees awarded upon graduation from medical school in medicine and surgery by universities in various countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The naming suggests that they are two separate degrees; however, in practice, they are usually treated as one and awarded together. Usually, students who have graduated with a "Bachelor of Medicine" degree may also practice surgery, because it is equivalent to the "Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery" degree.

Basic Eligibility
Two years intermediate examination of Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh under 10+2 pattern with Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology or Biology as optional that shall include a practical test in each subject.
About Alluri Sitaram Raju Academy of Medical Sciences (ASRAM):
Alluri Sitaram Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru was named after the famous patriot Alluri Sitaramaraju. The Chairman of the institute is Sri Gokaraju Gangaraju, a famous industrialist of Andhra Pradesh. Sri G Ramaraju is the present Director of the Institute. The Medical College and the attached Teaching Hospital were established in the year 1999.
ASRAM offers undergraduate degree (MBBS) and degree and diplomas for post graduation in various branches. Post Graduate diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is also offered by the Institute.The MCI has permitted for increase in annual intake of MBBS students to 150 from the Academic year 2009-10.Accordingly, now 150 MBBS students are admitted every year.
Campus :-
The College and Hospital are located in a vast area of about 100 acres. The campus is located adjacent to National Highway no.5. It is 3 kms from Eluru Railway station and 35 kms from Gannavaram(Vijayawada) airport. More than 100 cameras are installed in the campus and they are connected to central CCTVs to monitor all the areas of the Medical college and Hospital. A number of security personnel were employed to offer round the clock security in the campus.
